How we ranked cities

We included the 39 cities where we list at least 15 dance studios. Each city's score is the average of the share of its dance studios that welcome beginners and the share of its dance studios that offer drop-in classes. We use shares rather than totals because our coverage differs from city to city, so a count would partly measure how many places we collected.

A dance studio counts only when its own website says so. Places that don't mention it count as "no", so these shares are a floor, not a ceiling. Median prices appear where at least 3 places publish one.
